He received his Doctor of Medicine from Cornell University Medical College in New York, NY, where he was a Biomedical Fellow of the Tri-Institutional MD/PhD program. Dr. Mayer is a nationally recognized researcher, having led a team that saved the life of a child using cutting-edge DNA technology. This achievement was featured in the Pulitzer Prize-winning Journal-Sentinel article, "One in a Billion."
